“From Good to Great is nice,
but knowing when great is good enough is even better.”
When we look at the world of sports, great is never good enough. Even a second place at the Olympics can create disappointment.
In business, most executives adopt the same philosophy. So, they never stop. They think and say: “It’s not done. It’s never done.” and they ask themselves and others: “What can we do more?”
But that’s not the right question.
The question is: “When is it good enough?”
When you start doing something, make sure you know what success looks like. At the start, define clear success indicators so you know when you have arrived. Going beyond the standards you have set, is only a waste of resources. So: define success, learn to enjoy the arrival, collect your winnings and move on to the next challenge.
